ScreenCastsOnline

This guy is brilliant. See the review of LaunchBar (he got a discount out of them for viewers, until Nov 20 2005). Beautifully produced vid--very high production values, absolutely on top of his game. I feel sucha klutz. Sooooo much to learn.
Oh, and the product he's reviewing is also brilliant. I'm overwhelmed. Actually, I'm tired. But DO see this.

blinkx video feed

blinkx here set to search for vlog --it's a feeeeeed. Very neat. Just paste the code onto your page and it will link clickers straight through to the feed page. This is blinkx tv search. So the code on this page you're reading will look for all video/audio on the internet mentioning vlog. Get the code from here.

House lights: On!

Yet another clunky Treo movie. This time, an exploration of editing and fading in iMovie. A bit too enthusiastic with the scissors, there, mrd. Done in a rush.
Now try embedding the file instead of the usual way (which followed the Freevlog tutorials). Thanks to videobloggers' excellent embed media generator, the nifty xml code for the embed below was done in a trice and worked first time. Splendid!

Lights on!

Waiting for the taxi I ordered when the house was hotting up, the fridge was getting decidedly stinkly, and I was getting a tad hungry.
This was also an experiment in using voiceover and titling in iMovie. A cinch, as you will see.

vlogmap

You've just gotta see this. How to use Google Maps: vlog sites around the world.

Before and after (the lights came back on)

Intrepid as ever, was the vlogger going to let a simple power blowout stop him? No way. Keep the Treo camera rolling.

Feed is up

Right, done that. See the feedburner chiclet on the right sidebar. Subscribe! If you need an aggregator to control all your video feeds, use iTunes podcasting or FireANT. I'll be putting RIP up on both of those RSN.

Lights blown!

Oh that's just terrific! Here I am with 76 pages open, running videos and just about to create a feedburner feed ... And the lights go out! People are making dinner, I guess. Still, time to check out the Treo hookup again.

And the other one ...

Here's the other link--this time made with the iSight on the Mini, hooked up to iMovie. Here's the link

vlogging gets going

So here it is at last--the result of working through the excellent Freevlog tutorials .

Here's the link. The movie was made on the treo and then compressed using iMovie. Uploaded to archive/Ourmedia. Linked through to here. Easy. But too many steps. Maybe the next one will be quicker now I have all the accounts set up.

gmail is go

Ok, finally figured out how to get a gmail account last night. Easy, just join the google gmail group and ask. There are plenty around now that folks in the States can get one thru sms. They're happy to share, bless 'em. Took me two hours to get there. Then proudly sent off an invite to a friend who promptly claimed he'd sent me an invite months ago. Could well be but I couldna find it.

Hooking up the Treo

Which is nice.
Be even nicer to send pics. But the 'Hello' site is inaccessible. Maybe it's my port settings on the Norton Firewall. Will check (some time this month...) and get back to you.

The above was emailed thru directly from the treo. Next step, upload vlogs... There is a site somewhere with instructions and scripts for doing this. I'll find the link and post it up here later. But first, how about just ordinary vlogging? Watch this space

Technophile

It's all about losing stuff really. It obsolesces; it rusts; it just stops working; or it gets 'alf-inched. My HRM (Polar 810i) got nicked. Now that was supposed to provide heaps of motivation to get going at the gym. Ach. Just as well there's plenty of other motivation around (like fat %!). Guess I'll replace it eventually. I'd carelessly also left the wrist-gps tracker in the same place but that thankfully wasn't taken. Low resale opportunities? Just be more careful in future. Please.
